Sadaf Firoz

Hello! I am Sadaf Firoz and I’m currently a junior studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida. In 2015, I graduated from The Cambridge School in Doha, Qatar and came to The States to pursue my passion for Aerospace. I’ve love travelling and airplanes since I was a kid and want to work on making the planes of the future better in every aspect.

My favourite professor at UCF is Dr. Ahlam Al-Rawi. I introduced myself to her on my first day of taking her Physics II class and have been under her guidance since. She has an incredible, and contagious passion for Physics that fills her classroom during any of her lectures. It is not uncommon for her to get carried away in her enthusiasm for exploring different ideas while trying to solve a problem which is something, I personally, really enjoyed!

One of the biggest reasons I joined the STEM Ambassador program is to be able to give back to the community I live in. I would love to get more, younger students interested in STEM fields because I believe our whole society cultivates the benefits of any STEM progress- so the more people involved, the merrier!  I’ve met some great people that are always fun to work with and are also dedicated to making STEM more of an achievable goal for younger kids, and am excited to meet more!

If I could give future STEM students one piece of advice-and this may come as a surprise- it would be to take it easy (every once in a while)! I know everyone raves about how demanding STEM Majors can be, and they are! But if you can approach your classes with more curiosity for the subject than tentativeness for the workload, I can promise you the work won’t seem as hard.

All of that being said, I can’t just study all the time! When my schedule allows, I like to grab my friends and go play outside or attend social events downtown. We can do anything from hiking, kayaking, and acro-yoga to watching movies, and just hanging out at each others house. I prefer to study by myself, which I do a lot of, so I really value being able to spend time with my friends and meeting new people.
