Andrea Mungroo

My name is Andrea, and I am in my sophomore computer science major at UCF. I was born and raised in New York, where I went to Nanuet Senior High School. Growing up, I’ve always had a fascination with biology and mathematics, but truly enjoyed working with technology; I took any and every tech classes my school offered! At UCF, I’ve taken multiple general education courses and many courses related to my major of computer science. Some of my favorites include Computer Science I and Biology I, both were taught by some of the best professors I know to this day.

I decided to get involved with the STEM Ambassador program because I never had a role-model in STEM when I was growing up, specifically a female role-model. The opportunity to teach students about the amazing life within STEM is the opportunity of a lifetime. I would love to reach out to students who simply have questions about what STEM is, and what they can do in the future involving STEM. My goal as an ambassador is to educate, encourage, and make it fun along the way!

My greatest piece of advice is to never stop trying. This goes for anything and everything in life, especially when taking on a project or working towards a goal. I have been discouraged to do STEM for so long, but I keep working hard to do the best that I can, and I’m so happy I fought for something I love so much.

Aside from school, I love hanging with my friends and meeting new people! I also enjoy photography, going to Disney World, and watching movies. I have a great passion for adventure, and hope to travel the world one day.
