Jenna Hughes
My name is Jenna Hughes and I am a senior majoring in Environmental Engineering and Biology, and minoring in Bioengineering. I graduated in 2021 from Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida. My favorite engineering class is Biological Process Control, which is a class where biological concepts are used for engineering application. My favorite biology class was Principles of Plant Science, which was especially intriguing because it was all about how plants work. One of my favorite professors at UCF is Professor Sullivan, who teaches Introduction to the Engineering Profession and Engineering Concepts and Methods. Professor Sullivan is great to talk to about different engineering majors and getting involved at UCF. I think the great thing about the WiSTEM program is that students will be a part of a community of STEM majors right from their first semester. In my free time I like to play clarinet, kayak at Lake Claire, and take care of my plants.
Words of advice for WiSTEM students: Explore! UCF has a lot of opportunities and isn’t just about academics. It is never too early to get involved in extracurriculars like clubs and research.
