Olivia Mendoza

Hi, I’m Olivia Mendoza, I was born and raised in Naples, FL and graduated from Gulf Coast High School. Currently, I am a sophomore here at UCF and studying Environmental Engineering. So far, my favorite classes have been the freshmen intro to engineering courses . They were a nice transition from knowing nothing about engineering to being really confident in the field I chose to study. Going through those introductory courses was a great way to learn how I can connect my two passions: math and nature. The freshmen Laucher project and GNOR project were also very fun and hands-on additions to the class.

Displaying to the younger generation the places they can go with STEM, and how cool and interesting it really can be, is the reason I wanted to be a STEM Ambassador.  Making sure they know these fields aren’t just about math and science, but how that math and science can make great discovery and invention for the world.

Words of wisdom for future STEM students is that the most harm you can do to yourself is not trying. Succeeding isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible.

Outside of school I love going to the gym, cooking, and binging a good show. It’s so important to show love to yourself by just taking a breather and relaxing. Hanging out with my roommates, ordering some food, and putting on a good movie is one of my favorite weekend festivities.
