Olivia Mendoza

Hello, I’m Olivia! I am currently in my 3rd year at UCF studying Environmental Engineering. This past summer I took Intro to Environmental Engineering in Rome with Professor Sullivan. I was able to build a community learning about the Roman engineering structures along with fellow STEM students. The experience I got from going more depth into my engineering specialty while exploring a foreign city was unforgettable.

This is my second year being a UCF STEM Ambassador because of the importance to display to the younger generations the places they can go with STEM. Being a STEM student means learning how and why the world works. So, extending my interest about how cool and interesting learning about the world can be, is the reason I wanted to be a STEM Ambassador.  Making sure they know these fields aren’t just about math and science, but how that math and science can make great discovery and invention for the world. Words of wisdom for future STEM students is that the most harm you can do to yourself is not trying. Succeeding isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible.
Outside of class and exams I go to the gym, cook, and watch a lot of shows. It’s so important to show love to yourself by just taking a breather and relaxing. Hanging out with my roommates, ordering some food, and putting on a good movie is one of my favorite weekend festivities.
