Sophia Paray
Hi! My name is Sophia Paray and I am a sophomore Mechanical Engineering major. I am an OCPS alumni and graduated from Winter Park High School. So far, I’ve enjoyed my Intro to Engineering class under Professor Jackie Sullivan. Though this class included a challenging final project, it allowed me to grow technical skills and form great friendships. I also am currently enjoying Physics 2 with Dr. Sokol and her engaging, passionate lectures.
I wanted to get involved in the STEM Ambassador program to give back to the local community and foster interests in the STEM field. I hope to bring my genuine love for outreach in order to create a welcoming space for all students. If you’re an aspiring STEM student, I urge you to be brave and keep pushing outside of your comfort zone. Trying new things can be scary, but taking the first step is the key factor in finding and/or pursuing your passions. STEM is for everybody, and you can do it.
Outside of school, I love to read books, crochet, bake, and dance. I also enjoy going to concerts, shows at the Dr. Phillips Center, and Orlando Magic basketball games.
