Yen Truong
My name is Yen Truong, and I am a 2nd year Aerospace Engineering major. I graduated from Archbishop McCarthy High School in 2024 and I grew up in Plantation. One of my favorite classes at UCF is History of Western Art. It was a class that required lots of reading, but it kept me interested because it was a topic outside of my major and taught me about art around the world and the stories behind it. My favorite professor at UCF is Professor Sullivan. She was always excited in class and constantly updated us on opportunities offered at UCF. I could tell that she loves what she does and her passion for it inspires me to keep pursuing my education. I got involved with the WiSTEM program because I want to serve as a guide and help incoming students adjust to the new environment. This program allows students of similar fields of study to gather and form a bond that may very well allow them to prosper during their college career. My expectation for this program is for everyone to leave feeling confident with themselves and the people they have met during their experience. With the rigor of STEM majors, I hope everyone remembers back to this program and allows themselves to keep pushing through no matter how difficult it gets. This program has a great support system, and I hope it remains with both mentees and mentors. In my free time, I like to listen to music, go to the movies, hang out with my friends, and visit family.
