Tal Deletis

Hello!

My name is Tal Deletis! I am a senior at the University of Central Florida studying Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Psychology and am a first-generation student. I grew up in Davie, Florida where I graduated from Western High School.

My favorite part of my degree has been all the labs that I have been able to take at UCF. Every lab is highly interactive and aids in the understanding of the lecture content. My top two favorite labs have been the genetics lab, where we studied genetic mutations in Drosophila, common fruit flies, and the physiology lab, where we learned about how our body systems work!

Navigating college is hard but possible thanks to professors who have offered me guidance and support, such as Dr. Robert Borgon. Dr. Borgon, whom I took Quantitative Biological Methods and Molecular Biology with, provided ample amounts of resources for students to succeed as well as always making time for students who just wanted to chat.

I chose to get involved with the STEM Ambassador program due to my love for mentoring. I am currently in my second year as a mentor with the Knight2Knight UCF Mentor Collective, and the opportunity to give back to the community through teaching as a STEM ambassador was something I could not pass up. The advice that I would give future STEM students is to get as involved as possible on campus, and do not be afraid to approach professors or visit their office hours. They are here to help you!

Aside from school, I love to work out at the RWC, am constantly cooking and trying new recipes, and enjoy spending quality time with friends and family to help me recharge!
