Disha Iyengar

My name is Disha Iyengar, and I’m a junior biomedical science major enrolled in the Burnett Medical Scholars program here at UCF. I’ve been interested in STEM since high school, and graduated from Northville High School in 2022. My favorite STEM class I’ve taken is definitely microbiology. Its hands-on lab component has been a particular highlight of my UCF experience. Beyond the sciences, I’ve also explored the arts with courses like Enjoyment of Music and the History and Culture of Wine.

Inspired by my own positive experiences with STEM outreach programs growing up, I’m eager to join the STEM ambassador program. I hope to introduce the STEM field to younger students, sparking their interest and potentially influencing their career paths. My advice to aspiring STEM students is to build a strong network within the field. The journey can be challenging, and having mentors who’ve been there can provide invaluable support.

During my free time, I enjoy staying active through hiking, swimming, and exploring new travel destinations.
